Who knew you can have fun while enjoying a fantastic workout?

Try these feel-good workouts if you feel bored with traditional gym sessions or if you want to try something different.

This round-up highlights five fun and creative workouts. Uplifting music motivates you and gives you stamina. The social class environment makes the session feel like a party. Finally the choreography engages your mind enough that you might not even notice how much you are sweating.

Don’t worry if these classes are not offered in your community, most also offer streaming classes or DVD workouts for home workout enjoyment.

Five Fun Feel-Good Fitness Classes

1. Zumba – The Classic Party Workout

2. Pound – Work It Like A Rockstar

Pound is a high-energy cardio workout that lets you embrace your inner rock star. The class involves choreographed movements to great music. All the while, participants hold a pair of 1/4 pound “Ripstix” and incorporate “drumming” into the routine. You may tap the sticks together, drum on the floor, or drum on your own body.

A Pound class can be deceptively intense. Like Zumba, Pound makes use of intervals alternating  intense exercise with intervals. In addition, you don’t count reps instead you move and drum to the music.

According to the Pound creators, participants benefit in the following ways; “Drastically improve your rhythm, timing, coordination, speed, agility, endurance, and musicality.”

3. BollyX – Shine Like a Bollywood Star

BollyX is an Indian dance inspired workout that uses high intensity intervals. It is easy to compare BollyX to Zumba as both draw from fun cultural dances and adapt them to fitness. Both mix the infectious combination of feel good music, simple choreography, and a positive social atmosphere.

According to the BollyX creators, participants benefit by experiencing a full body workout, improved coordination, and a mind-body experience.

4. Punk Rope – The Recess Workout

Punk Rope is a jump rope based cardio workout. It combines rope jumping, games, and calisthenics. The workout creator aims for the format’s workouts to feel “like recess.”  Live classes often host theme nights for holidays like “Talk Like a Pirate Day.”

Other benefits of a Punk Rope class include “improved cardio, agility, coordination, strength, balance, rhythm, and timing.”

5. Buti Yoga – Embrace Your Dancing Yogi

Buti Yoga combines yoga, dance, calisthenics, and high intensity interval training. The classes usually involve upbeat, high-energy music and a positive vibe. The dance moves are “tribal inspired”  and the workout it hard to classify but feels a little like a fusion of a power yoga class, dance class and calisthenics interval workout.

Benefits of Buti include a full-body aerobic workout (depending on the class format), lower body strengthening, core strength, balance, coordination, and flexibility.
